Getting Ready for Summer

It’s getting closer and closer to summer, with only about one more month before it’s time to break the swimsuits out and put the sweatpants away. It’s already starting to get in the 80s where I live, and it’s only going to get hotter! I’ve already been wearing tanks and shorts. I can’t wait for summer! Today’s post is about a few tips to get ready for summer! Some of these take work, but if you can stay motivated and not quit, you can reach your goal and have the body you want for the summer season!

One// Find motivation. Whether it’s a Pinterest board filled with pins of your goals for the summer, or a workout buddy who’s going through the journey with you, find something to keep you motivated. Write down in a journal your goals and how you’re going to reach them. Whenever you feel like quitting, reread how you felt and think about what you’re working for. It might also help to go ahead and buy some swimsuits or shorts that you know you’re going to want to wear this summer. Keep them in mind and think about them whenever you’re working out or trying to eat clean. Remember how you want to look in them. As long as you can keep your goal or motivation in mind, the process will be ten times easier!

Two// Use fitness apps. I think fitness apps are great, because you can workout at home and not have to drive to the gym or pay for a gym membership. Just find some floor space and a smartphone! My all time favorite app is Sworkit, it’s great! Sworkit gives you suggestions for what part of your body you want to work: upper body, lower body, full body, core, and the “rump roaster”. After you choose what you want to work on, you can then decide how long you work out for. I usually do three five minute sessions. You can choose from five minute intervals or a specific time, according to how long you want to workout. Then, a small video pops up in the top half of the screen with an instructor that shows you how to do the exercise. At the bottom of the screen is how long you have left, a pause button, a skip button, and rewind button. After you finish your workout, you earn medals to add to your collection! I definitely recommend this app, and there are so many others out there to keep you on your toes and in shape!

Three// Eat better. You might be doing lots of hard work to get your body in top shape, but you aren’t going to see any real changes until you actually start eating better. This doesn’t mean you need to go on a diet by any means, you  just need to be careful of what you are putting in your body. Lots of fruits and vegetables are recommended, and be sure to drink lots and lots of water. It works wonders! Water can help keep your skin clear, flush out toxins in the body, and can satisfy hunger while also being the healthier option compared to other drinks. I know delicious and sugary foods can be so tempting, but think about what you’re putting into your body before you eat. It won’t help you in the long run. You can check out my post about some healthy meal options here. A big no-no is soda. Sodas are really bad for you, so definitely try and lay off of the fizzy, carbonated drinks.  There are so many options out there that are so much better for you than the sugary, fatty foods. Trust me, I’m probably the biggest pizza fan out there, but there’s something very important to remember whenever you eat: moderation. It can be okay to slip up and eat some unhealthy foods now and then, but remember moderation and portion sizes. As long as you’re watching what you eat and working hard for your goal, there will be change!

So those are three ways you can be on your way to getting in shape in no time! Hope you enjoyed!
